CX-2159 Clock Manual - How to set time

To adjust the clock follow these instructions:-

I refer to the buttons by the numbers 1-6, reading from the left.
[1] Setting button.
[2] Change field to set.
[3] Advance active (flashing) field.
[4] Set alarm.
[5] Announce time (in Chinese)
[6] Reset to factory presets - (use paperclip to push button in hole.)

I refer to the indicator lamps as A - Top left, B - top right, C - bottom left, D - bottom right.

[A] A.M.
[C] P.M.
[B] Alarm(s) active.
[D] Voice announcement (in Chinese).

To set time push [1], push [2] to select digit to adjust, push [3] to adjust; repeat [2] and [3] as necessary, then push [1] to return to new time at start of minute (in other words - push on time signal).
Since the clock reverts to normal operation if no control is pushed for 30 seconds you may push [2] every 10-15 seconds to keep it in set mode while waiting for the time signal.

In Normal Timekeeping mode hold down [3] for three seconds to toggle between 12 Hour mode and 24 Hour mode. If AM [A] or PM [C] lamp is lit the clock is in 12 Hour mode, if neither is lit it is in 24 Hour mode.
Time announcement is available only in 24 Hour mode.

To display alarms (up to 8) from Normal Timekeeping mode press [4]. Alarm time 1 is displayed. Pressing [4] again steps through alarm times 2, 3, 4, 5,6,7, 8 and then reverts to Normal Timekeeping mode.
The display -:-- indicates that that alarm is not set, if the Alarm lamp [B] is not illuminated no alarm is set (but it only goes out when the all the alarms have been unset and the clock is returned to Normal Timekeeping mode).

To set an alarm select it as in the previous paragraph, then push [1], push [2] to select digit to adjust, push [3] to adjust; repeat [2] and [3] as necessary, then push [4] to step to the next alarm time.

To unset an alarm select it as in the previous paragraph and push [3]. You should see display -:--.
(But note that the Alarm lamp [B] does not go out when the all the alarms have been unset until after the clock has been returned to Normal Timekeeping mode).

In Normal Timekeeping mode short touches to [3] toggle the Time Announcement mode. This mode only works if the clock is in 24 Hour mode, and is always disabled between 22:00 and 07:00.
The Voice Announcement lamp (D - bottom right) is illuminated if this mode is on.

Note that if the lithium battery used to remember the time when the power is off goes completely flat the clock stops working even if mains power is present - the display goes out and the clock appears dead. If this happens disconnect the power supply, open the case (five Philips screws) and replace the CR3032 lithium cell (make sure you put in the new cell with the same polarity as the old one). Close the case, reconnect the power and all should be well again.

Convert excel worksheets to interactive web pages

This tutorial shows how to convert excel worksheets with formulas to interactive web pages. Well, for this, you will have to use this program named Spread Sheet Converter. Good news is that I can covert them by uploading to the files to their site
Link - http://www.spreadsheetconverter.com/

or can download it for later use as well - Download link

The program also claims to provide these services
  • create web forms
  • build iPhone/Android calculators
  • create advanced web calculators
  • use live charts in websites
  • collect survey responses in a database without programming

Ubuntu not loading desktop after logging in?

so um.. i typed my password to login my account and hit enter and it lead me to a blank screen with only desktop, mouse cursor and that Ubuntu 14.04 LTS logo on the bottom left.

what fixed it.

  1. Installed gnome-session-fallback (sudo apt-get install gnome-session-fallback). Tried logging in through it (by clicking the little ubuntu logo next to my username on the login screen and choosing gnome) and it worked fine. [although i think this is a complete unnecessary step if you know how to create a new user account through terminal]
  2. creating a new user account (system settings > user accounts > (click that unlock button on top) > (then the + sign to add a new account) > (set a password to that account since if you forget this step you cant access the account you just created)
  3. Try logging into the new account just created. if it works fine then the issue was probably something is corrupted in your normal account. for some magical reason, logging out and logging into my normal account worked after this.

2 Tips to improve your YouTube experience

1. YouTube Feather (beta)

The "Feather" project is intended to serve YouTube video watch pages with the lowest latency possible. So basically when you goto YouTube and select a video, it will load the page with minimum content. There will be only the search bar and the video. No ads, no suggested videos, no comments.

2. SmartVideo for YouTube

Have you noticed that when you pause a video on YouTube it also pauses loading the video. This can be pretty annoying if you have slow  internet and you are trying to let the video buffer before start playing the video so it doesnt stop half way. SmartVideo for YouTube is an add-on you can install to your chrome or firefox so it makes sure the video stays buffering even while the video is paused. It has some other handy features like setting up a preferred video quality, player size etc too.

IRISH PHILOSOPHY

There are only two things to worry about:
Either you are well or you are sick.
If you are well,
then there's nothing to worry about.
If you are sick,
There are two things to worry about.
Either you will get well or you will die.
If you get well,
There is nothing to worry about.
If you die,
There are two things to worry about.
Either you will go to heaven or hell.
If you go to heaven,
There is nothing to worry about.
But if you go to hell,
You'll be so damn busy shaking hands
With your friends, you won't have time to WORRY!
SO WHY WORRY
